Do you think someone should be able to keep money that was gotten illegally? How about the State of California? Should state government be able to keep ill-gotten gains?
Two of the best bills before the state legislature this year are AB 2510 (Wagner) and SB 1328 (Knight) and sponsored by BOE Member George Runner. These bills would simply require the state to return taxes and fees to taxpayers who were illegally taxed. A concept hard to argue with.
SB 1328 failed to pass in Senate Governance and Finance this past week. AB 2510 will be heard in Assembly Rev and Tax next Monday.
